Don't miss the Friends of the Library Annual Spring Book sale. Books, videos and audios for adults and children will be for sale, with prices starting at 50 cents. On Sunday, buy materials for $2 a bag (bags provided). Proceeds from the Friends book sale are used to sponsor museum passes and a variety of events for adults and children.

Take a guided walk through an architectural jewel in the heart of Quincy—-and find out what's there for you—-at a free orientation tour of the Thomas Crane Public Library.

Discover the quiet beauty of Quincy's original library building, a masterpiece designed by renowned architect H.H. Richardson in 1882 and recently restored to its original glory, now the home of 180 current magazine titles from Antiques to Yoga Journal. Take a close look at the carved brownstone bas relief sculpture on the exterior of the 1939 Coletti reading room—-and check out the monthly art exhibit inside. Then explore the newest addition, a distinctive contemporary interpretation of Richardson's Romanesque style constructed in 2001, where you will find everything from audiobooks to Internet computers to zoo passes!

All ages are welcome to join the orientation tours, which will begin in the ground floor atrium and last about 45 minutes. Interpretation in Cantonese and Mandarin will be provided.

Join us in the Carriage House on Mother`s Day for this engaging performance by known re-enactors Patricia Bridgman and Thomas Macy.  They will portray Abigail and John Adams in this charming play.

One of the biggest Flag Day events of its kind, Quincy's annual Flag Day Parade features bands, floats and hundreds of flag-waving children. A post parade flag raising ceremony

Relive the dramatic debate that led to the passage of the Declaration of Independence at the home of the "Atlas of Independence," President John Adams! Attendees assume the roles of members of the Continental Congress and represent their colonies in the debate that forever changed the course of history.

Exposition of the works created during Art in the Park weekend and a juried art show in the Carriage House.  Awards and commendationswill be presented to artists in each category.

Lipton Cup Regatta
Squantum Yacht Club.
Wollaston Beach

This annual racing event sponsored by the Squantum Yacht Club is named in honor of Sir Thomas Lipton, heir to the Lipton Tea fortune, who in the 1920s presented trophies to yachting and other sporting groups around the country. Quincy's Lipton Cup bears the names of each year's race winners, and is kept at the Quincy Historical Society between regattas. For more information, visit www.squantumyc.org.

Quincy Veterans' Day Parade

Parade steps off from Hancock and School streets and continues to the Adams Academy, 8 Adams St. for Veterans' Day ceremonies.

Annual Holiday Lighting Ceremony

Downtown Quincy becomes a Winter Wonderland ablaze with 10,000 lights and holiday decorations at this annual event featuring a puppet show, Christmas Carols, a brief appearance by Santa and more.

November :
Santa's Arrival by Parachute
12:30 p.m.
Pageant Field
One Merrymount Parkway (Route 3A)

Costumed characters will arrive by fire engine at 11:30 a.m. to hand out candy canes to the children. After his arrival by parachute, Santa and his elves will ride the fire engine through downtown Quincy to the Quincy Center fire station.

Annual Quincy Christmas Parade

This much-anticipated holiday tradition features dozens of bands, floats, clowns, antique autos and entertainment, attracting more than 200,000 spectators along the parade’s three-mile route.
