Curator’s View Tour: Paintings at the Eustis Estate

See the Eustis Estate from a different perspective on a guided tour with Senior Curator of Collections Nancy Carlisle. Well-known as a center of intellectual life, Boston was also an artistic and cultural hub in the second half of the nineteenth century. William Ralph Emerson’s design of the Eustis Estate mansion is a superb example of the region’s artistic panache. The paintings that ornament the furnished rooms in the house also reflect the region’s artistic vitality. In this intimate group, Nancy discusses how the house’s paintings complement those in the Artful Stories exhibition in the galleries on the second floor and reflect the developments that took place in the region which enabled men and women to establish successful and enduring artistic careers.

Space is limited so advance tickets are highly recommended. After the guided tour, explore the rest of the house and the Artful Stories exhibition.
