David Chesnut Jazz Festival at the Eustis Estate
Historic New England and Mandorla Music invite you to be part of the first annual David Chesnut Jazz Festival at the Eustis Estate. The outdoor festival will feature the Zahili Zamora Trio, the Jerry Bergonzi Quartet, Astronomico, a solo guitar set by Andrew Stern, and the Lemuel Marc Quartet, as well as a performance by Continuum Dance Project. There are family-friendly outdoor activities throughout the day, including interactive performances by Cornell Coley’s “Afro Latin Drums”.
David Chesnut was a coachman and chauffeur who worked at the Eustis Estate from the 1890s until 1905. He had a lifelong passion for music as both a performer and connoisseur, and he was active in the community. The David Chesnut Jazz Festival is helping tell a more inclusive story about the people who were part of the Eustis Estate, while celebrating the power of art and community.
Tickets for members $15; nonmembers $20. Bring your own chairs and blankets for lawn seating. Festival is outdoors and will be held rain or shine, so dress appropriately for the weather. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, including a beer tent, Mom on the Go Grilled Cheese, and The Ice Creamsmith.
In conjunction with the festival will be an exhibition called Music and Motion: The Chesnut Family Legacy featuring artifacts from the Chesnut family collection and an in-depth look at their story. Entry into the museum is included with festival ticket. Generous support provided by Milton Cultural Council and The Edgartown Collection / Anne Hajjar. Please call 617-994-6600 for more information
