Declaration of Independence Reading

The Dorothy Quincy Homestead looks forward to hosting Mayor Thomas P. Koch for a special reading of the Declaration of Independence on Saturday, July 1. This event in celebration of Independence Day will also feature a fife and drum performance, tours of the Homestead, and ice cream for all visitors. The reading will take place at 11 am. Tours of the Homestead will run from 11 am to 1:30 pm.

The Dorothy Quincy Homestead was home to four generations of the Edmund Quincy family from 1681 to 1754. It is a well preserved and beautifully decorated Georgian style mansion. It was the childhood home of Dorothy Quincy, wife of John Hancock. The Homestead grounds also include lovely gardens and the “chariot” owned by John Hancock.
