Quincy Schools Exhibit at the QArts Gallery

Students from Quincy schools celebrate their year in art. Organized and created by the art teachers and their students, the project was facilitated by Larry Taglieri, Director of Academic Programs, and Sarah Reichel,  Art Department Head, both of Quincy Public Schools.

This is the first of a 3 year “Celebrate Quincy” art project, conceived by Quincy residents Jessica Davis-Myers and Dan Myers, both former teachers. It’s their contribution to Mayor Koch’s extensive preparations for the 400th Anniversary of Quincy’s founding, coming up in 2025. “We felt that the young people of our city would enjoy taking part in the celebration in each of the 3 years leading to the quadricentennial through their art. We are proud to say that the students and teachers more than met our expectations.”

Participating schools include Quincy High School and North Quincy High School. The Atlantic Middle School;
Broad Meadows Middle School; Central Middle School; Point Webster Middle School; and  South West Middle School. Atherton Hough Elementary School; Beechwood Knoll Elementary School; Charles A Bernazzani Elementary School; Lincoln Hancock Community School; Clifford Marshall Elementary School; Merrymount Elementary School; and Montclair Elementary School. The Francis W Parker Elementary School; Snug Harbor Community School; Squantum Elementary School; and Wollaston Elementary School. The Adams Montessori, and the  Woodward School for Girls.

Exhibit runs September 9 through October 8. Come by and see the creative artwork of hundreds of students of all ages and dozens of hardworking and dedicated art teachers in the city. This project will continue in 2024 and 2025 and it will bring more participation in the City’s celebration by showcasing Quincy’s young artists. A reception will be held Saturday, Sept. 23, 2:00-4:00 PM. Free event. Public welcome. Handicap accessible.
