Swing on the Common

Come and Swing on the Common, Hancock Adams Common in Quincy Center.

Music, Dance, and Plein Air Painting

The 18-piece, “Beantown Swing Orchestra” specializes in the performance of classic Swing Era music with young, talented musicians using vintage instruments & music charts from that period.
We are pleased to feature vocalist and trumpeter Carolina Pérez, daughter of jazz giant Danilo Pérez of Quincy at the event. Also, Andrew Selzer the director of Boston Lindy Hop, one of Boston’s premiere swing dance studios will be on board with his team of “Swinging Dancers”! Always a favorite crowd pleaser this group will have you up and dancing the afternoon away as you enjoy the uplifting music of the 30’s & 40’s.

Bring your own blanket or chair and grab some local take-out or buy lunch from one of our food trucks and make a day of it. Hive beer and wine airstream will be on hand and there will be plenty of lawn games as well.

*Quincy Art Association will be hosting the Plein Air Painting, but artists are welcome to bring their own easel, canvas, charcoal, paints and brushes to create their own works of art on the common. Email events@quincyma.gov to reserve your Plein Air painting spot.
